Westland Books never fails to thank and pep up their bloggers by organising meetups and one such bloggers meet was organised by them to meet and greet Abhisar Sharma, a popular name in the media industry and also an author of two books. Here, we all gathered to celebrate and talk about his latest book, The Edge Of Machete.
I have read and reviewed The Edge Of Machete and trust me its a fantastic thriller and out of all the bloggers who were present there I was the only one who had read and reviewed it. You can read my review here.
Abhisar and me have been in touch over twitter ever since I laid my hands on his book, so there was no need to break the ice between us. I stepped into Espresso Grill, an amazing resto-bar at Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Connaught Place and found Sarita from Westland and Abhisar sitting there and then began a series of sharing anecdotes, my experience with the book, Abhisar’s experience while writing his books, journalism, media and his love for food.
I must mention here the amazing food menu that Espresso Grill had set up for the bloggers and that definitely made us feel special. I must put a picture of the menu so that the reader should feel a bit jealous of me here! 😛
The ambience was just fantastic and conversations just hopped from one topic to another while everyone was gorging on delicious food. The owner of the restaurant Mugdha, who was once Abhisar’s colleague was also there to meet all of us and she took care of everything and shared some stories of the times when Abhishar and she used to do the morning show together on NDTV. Abhisar Sharma is currently working with Aaj Tak and is a popular anchor. He has also won the Ramnath Goenka award for his contribution towards Journalism.
Post the main course, everyone requested Abhisar to read a couple of excerpts from The Edge Of Machete and I must say, the way he read excerpts was just IMPECCABLE. Almost everyone appreciated the way he read those excerpts so passionately. Post that, he signed our copies of his book.
Conversations just flowed from one topic to the another over the desserts as well. I had Warm House made Baklava, with Rose Petal and Pistachio nuts served with Vanilla Ice-cream and it was just amazing! I had always wanted to try Baklava and his meetup made it possible. Time just flowed and we didn’t even realise it was 10:30 P.M.
We clicked a group picture and then everyone pushed off to their homes. Abhisar was kind enough to offer me a ride till the metro station and ensured that I reached home safely by confirming the same. A gesture I must mention here.
I might some popular bloggers at the meet Manjulika, Arvind Passey, Maryanne, Ashish Chopra and others. It was fun meeting them as we all shared common passion for food and books.
I must thank Westland Books here. Every meet and event organised by them is just so perfect and fun! Looking forward to more such meetups and also looking forward to the third book of The Taliban Conundrum Trilogy by Abhisar Sharma, The Dark Side Of Me.
