I had read Shobhan Bantwal’s “The Sari Shop Widow” last year and liked it and I was already looking forward to her next book. She writes simple stories that are gripping in nature. From the very first page, you will be hooked to the book and will put it down only when you finish it. The same thing happened with her latest release, The Reluctant Matchmaker. With a pretty and deceptive cover, the book is a joy ride where the protagonist of the book, Meena Shenoy is too entangled with her feelings that she develops for her boss who has got a physique similar to giant, Prajay Nayak.
Meena Shenoy works as a PR executive for Rathnaya, a tech company in US. Prajay Nayak is the CEO of Rathnaya and in a weird encounter with Meena, the sparks are fly in the air for Meena. Prajay is too conscious about how he looks and Meena knows she is a midget. Prajay requests Meena to help him out in finding a suitable girl for him and asks her to keep this thing confidential and there begins a roller coaster ride for Meena and her emotions for Prajay and the story continues.
The story is predictable. But then, what I liked about the book is the way of telling the story. Shobhan Bantwal knows how to keep a reader hooked. There are highs and lows in the story and you sympathise with Meena at so many levels. The writing style is extremely simple and this book can be read by anyone and everyone. Its light, fun and pacy. 340 pages of romance in just right quantity unlike other books in which too much mush ends up giving you a headache. A perfect weekend read, The Reluctant Matchmaker definitely deserves a place in your bookshelf.
